Originally explored in 1949 and established as a cattle ranch in 1951 by Scottish expatriates, the area was later developed into a major tourist destination by the Cross River State government. Despite periods of neglect, ongoing revitalization efforts aim to restore its global appeal, focusing on job creation for local communities and boosting tourism.
